Workshop Syllabus
Overview
This is a lecture and laboratory workshop designed to enhance an educator’s ability to develop students’ concepts of spelling using a mul-modal structured literacy approach.
Workshop Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the educator will understand how:
- Spelling is a cognitve activity.
- Morphology aids in comprehension and spelling.
- Etymology provides answers for unusual spellings.
- Spelling provides a link between decoding and encoding.
Educators will demonstrate the ability to design and use the Spelling Investigation technique using a Structured Word Inquiry.
